KABUL, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Health announced on Sunday that more than 2.2 million mothers and children received treatment for malnutrition over the past year.

Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, deputy minister for health services, made the remarks during a government accountability program. He added that approximately 3,600 people with disabilities were provided with assistive devices, including prosthetic limbs and wheelchairs.

According to the ministry's data, a total of 52,429 types of medicines and 5,529 types of medical supplies worth 149 million U.S. dollars were imported into the country over the past year.

Officials from the ministry stated that ongoing reforms and efforts are being made to improve and expand access to essential health services across the country.
