HARARE, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe on Friday held a reception in Harare, the Zimbabwean capital, to mark the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

In his remarks at the reception, Defense Attache at the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe Wang Zhenyu reaffirmed China's unwavering commitment to advancing global peace and security.

"No matter how much it develops, China will never seek hegemony, expansion, or spheres of influence," Wang emphasized. "No matter how the international landscape evolves, China will continue to act as the defender, builder, and contributor to the international order."

He added that the Chinese military will continue deepening military ties with the Zimbabwe Defense Forces across multiple fields and assist Zimbabwe in enhancing its capacity for defense and stability maintenance.

In a speech read by John Jacob Nzvede, commander of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwean President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Emmerson Mnangagwa extended his congratulations, noting that Zimbabwe and China share a long-standing bond dating back to the southern African country's liberation struggle.

He commended China for its commitment and significant contributions to international peace and security, highlighting that China remains a reliable partner for the developing world.

"The People's Republic of China is demonstrating its commitment to international peace and security in our region by cooperating with the African Union, and this is complemented by bilateral cooperation with individual countries," he said.

Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding said in his speech that amid unprecedented global challenges, China stands ready to work with Zimbabwe and all peace-loving nations to create an inclusive and balanced security architecture.

Noting that this year also marks the 45th anniversary of China-Zimbabwe diplomatic ties, Zhou said the China-Zimbabwe comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation stands as a model for international relations.

"As Zimbabwe advances on its path toward industrialization and the realization of Vision 2030, China will remain its most reliable and steadfast partner -- today, tomorrow, and for all the years to come," Zhou added.
