NEW DELHI, July 25 (Xinhua) -- An Indian army trooper was killed Friday in a mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) dividing Kashmir, officials said.
The trooper was killed in the Krishna Ghati sector of frontier Poonch district, about 185 km southwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
The army trooper had accidentally stepped on a mine planted in the area, said officials, adding that he was immediately evacuated and rushed to a medical facility, where he was declared dead.
Local media reports said two troopers, including a junior commissioned officer, were also wounded in the blast, and both of them were shifted to a military hospital. ■
