SINGAPORE, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Singapore has announced plans to accelerate the adoption of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) across its tourism sector, aiming to enhance visitor experiences and improve industry productivity through personalized recommendations, multilingual assistance, and immersive storytelling.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OpenAI, the AI research and deployment company known for developing the ChatGPT platform, to explore and implement innovative AI solutions in tourism, according to a statement released by the board on Wednesday.
The use of advanced AI is expected to refine destination marketing and product strategies, and support tourism stakeholders in delivering responsive services.
Advanced AI refers to cutting-edge technologies capable of performing complex cognitive tasks, such as understanding natural language, generating human-like responses, analyzing large-scale data, and providing personalized, context-aware solutions.
"From helping businesses boost operational efficiency to enhancing visitor experience through greater personalization and engagement, these initiatives will ultimately encourage repeat visits and advocacy for Singapore," said Jordan Tan, chief technology officer at the STB. ■
