Nepal achieves notable growth in foreign trade in FY 2024-25

KATHMANDU, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Nepal recorded a 19.24-percent growth in foreign trade in the just-concluded 2024-25 fiscal year due to rising imports and exports, the Department of Customs said on Tuesday.

The total trade volume in 2024-25, which ended in mid-July, stood at 2.08 trillion Nepali rupees, up from 1.74 trillion rupees in 2023-24, the department said in its annual report.

The exports surged by 81.8 percent to 277.03 billion rupees, while the imports rose by 13.25 percent to 1.8 trillion rupees.

The report noted that India and China were Nepal's two largest trading partners. (1 rupee equals 0.0072 U.S. dollar)
