JAKARTA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's women's doubles badminton coach Karel Mainaky has set a target for his players to reach the semifinals of the 2025 BWF World Tour Super 1000 China Open, according to a statement issued Monday by the Indonesian Badminton Association.
The tournament is scheduled to take place at the Olympic Sport Center Gymnasium in Changzhou, Jiangsu, from July 22 to 27.
Mainaky talked about the prospects of Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi, currently ranked 10th in the world, noting that they had shown promising form at the recent Japan Open.
"Looking at Febriana and Pratiwi's performance at the Japan Open yesterday, their playing style, fighting spirit, and stamina were quite good," said Mainaky in the statement.
"I am still targeting a semifinal. I hope they can play freely and confidently," he noted.
However, the coach acknowledged that there are still areas in which the pair needs to improve, particularly in terms of consistency and confidence. ■
