SYDNEY, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Four people have died and two more have been hospitalized after two cars collided in a remote part of northern Australia.
The police service in Australia's northeastern state of Queensland said on Sunday that the two vehicles collided on a highway between the historical coal mining towns of Comet and Blackwater, some 615 kilometers northwest of Brisbane in the Central Highlands region, about 10:50 a.m. local time on Sunday.
Four people died at the scene and two more were hospitalized with serious injuries.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported that both vehicles caught fire and that the two people taken to hospital were both men in their 20s. ■
