ISLAMABAD, July 18 (Xinhua) -- At least 193 people have been killed and 544 others injured across Pakistan as heavy monsoon rains triggered widespread flooding and rain-related accidents since late June, the country's disaster management authority said Friday.
In its latest report, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said the casualties were recorded between June 26 and July 18, with 15 new deaths and 53 injuries reported in the past 24 hours.
The eastern Punjab province remained the worst-affected region, with 114 fatalities and 437 injuries.
Authorities have issued weather advisories and were coordinating with provincial governments to carry out relief and rescue operations in the most affected districts, the NDMA said. ■
