ISLAMABAD, July 18 (Xinhua) -- A policeman was killed and three others injured in a terrorist attack in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Friday, according to the spokesperson of the provincial government.
A group of unknown terrorists opened fire on a police vehicle near the National Highway in Mastung district of the province, killing a policeman on the spot while injuring several others, Shahid Rind, the spokesperson, told Xinhua.
He said that the target of the terrorists was the police, who were on a routine patrol in the area, adding that a search operation is underway to trace the attackers.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident, saying that the evil designs of terrorists undermining national security will be thwarted.
The government and security forces are determined to completely eradicate terrorism from the country, he added. ■
