SEOUL -- Three people went into cardiac arrest and four others were seriously injured in a parking lot fire in South Korea, Yonhap news agency said Thursday.
The fire broke out at about 9:05 p.m. local time (1205 GMT) at the piloti parking lot on the first floor of a 10-story apartment building in Gwangmyeong, south of the capital Seoul. (South Korea-Fire accident)

TOKYO -- The approval rating for the cabinet of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba slipped 6.2 percentage points from the previous month to 20.8 percent in July, marking its lowest ever level, a Jiji Press survey showed Thursday.

ISLAMABAD -- At least 54 people were killed and 227 others injured during the last 24 hours in rain-related accidents across Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Thursday.
The media wing of the NDMA told Xinhua that the majority of the accidents took place in the eastern Punjab province after a powerful rain and windstorm swept across the province. (Pakistan-Rain)

NEW DELHI -- India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) investigating last month's plane crash that killed 260 people on Thursday slammed some international media for attempting to draw conclusions through "selective and unverified" reporting of the incident.
The AAIB statement came shortly after a report by American publication The Wall Street Journal claimed audio from the cockpit voice recorder of the crashed plane said the senior pilot had cut fuel to the engines, causing a mid-air loss of thrust. (India-Plane Crash-Investigation) ■
