TEHRAN, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has held separate phone calls with his Egyptian and Belgian counterparts to discuss escalating tensions in the Middle East amid ongoing Israeli military actions, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Friday.

In his conversation with Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Thursday night, Araghchi voiced serious concern over Israeli attacks on Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza, calling for regional coordination to counter Israel's "warmongering and expansionist policies."

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Syria's territorial integrity and minority rights, while opposing any efforts to divide the country.

Speaking to Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot on Friday, Araghchi criticized the "inappropriate positions" adopted by certain European states toward the Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran from June 13 to 24.

"Such irresponsible behaviors will normalize law-breaking and escalation of insecurity across the region and world," he said.

Prevot, for his part, expressed concern over the rising tensions in the region. He also emphasized Belgium's commitment to diplomacy and negotiation to address Iran's nuclear issue, while urging all sides to avoid further escalation.
