SEOUL, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Three people went into cardiac arrest and four others were seriously injured in a parking lot fire in South Korea, Yonhap news agency said Thursday.
The fire broke out at about 9:05 p.m. local time (1205 GMT) at the piloti parking lot on the first floor of a 10-story apartment building in Gwangmyeong, south of the capital Seoul.
Three people in cardiac arrest were taken to hospitals, while four others were seriously wounded. Two people suffered minor injuries due to smoke inhalation.
The fire authorities mobilized tens of fire trucks and equipment, extinguishing the blaze around two hours later.
Twenty-three people were rescued from the rooftop of the building.
A witness was quoted as saying the fire started from the ceiling of the parking lot. ■
