KABUL, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan interim government has condemned Israeli airstrikes on Syria, especially the capital Damascus, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Thursday.
An official statement, issued by the interim government, described the strikes as a clear invasion and a blatant violation of a sovereign state.
The interim government called on regional countries and the international community to play their due roles in preventing such attacks on Syria and its people.
Israeli warplanes intensified their air campaign across southern Syria on Wednesday, striking the Syrian Army General Command headquarters and the presidential palace area in central Damascus.
The Syrian health authorities said one civilian was killed, and 18 others injured in the strikes on the capital, which included at least five separate air raids targeting central Damascus. ■
