JAKARTA, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia on Wednesday inaugurated a major pesticide factory, covering 4.5 hectares and located in the Modern Cikande Industrial Estate, Serang Regency, Banten Province.
"This facility was built to support the national food security program, with both domestic and global market targets," said Banten Governor Andra Soni during the inauguration ceremony.
He also reaffirmed the local government's commitment to streamlining investment licensing processes to drive regional economic growth.
David Yaory, president director of PT Delta Giri Wacana that owns the facility, said the factory has an initial production capacity of 2,000 metric tons of active ingredients annually, equivalent to 5,000 metric tons of pesticide products. This capacity is expected to increase to 15,000 metric tons within three years.
Construction of the facility began in November 2023, with an estimated investment of around 20 million U.S. dollars. ■
