COLOMBO, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka aims to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) worth 1.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, a senior official told the media on Wednesday.
Chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Arjuna Herath told the press that the International Monetary Fund has advised Sri Lanka to secure FDI amounting to at least 1 billion dollars, saying the country is well-positioned to exceed this target with the current favorable economic environment.
Sri Lanka has received 650 million U.S. dollars in FDI during the first quarter of 2025, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti told Parliament in June. ■
