BAGHDAD, July 15 (Xinhua) -- An explosive-laden drone on Tuesday morning hit the Sarsang oil field in Duhok province in northern Iraq's semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan, causing no casualties, local authorities reported.
The attack occurred after a similar strike using two explosive drones on Monday evening that targeted the Khurmala oil field in Erbil province, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government said in a statement.
A statement by the U.S.-based HKN Energy company said that an explosion occurred on Tuesday morning at one of its production facilities in the Sarsang field, causing the suspension of operations there.
Iraq has been experiencing an increasing number of drone attacks recently. In one of the latest strikes, an explosive-laden drone was intercepted on Monday near the Erbil International Airport. ■
