JERUSALEM, July 15 (Xinhua) -- A comprehensive survey conducted by Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics has shown that 28 percent of businesses in the country are using artificial intelligence (AI) in their operations.
The survey, the first of its kind in Israel, was conducted last month and covered more than 34,000 businesses across various sectors in Israel. Managers were asked about their company's use of AI, its purposes, and its impacts, according to the bureau.
The findings revealed that 17 percent of businesses use paid AI services, which indicates more intensive engagement.
It was also found that AI use is common in the high-tech and finance sectors in Israel. About 60 percent of companies in these industries have adopted AI, and most of them use paid services.
Meanwhile, around 23 percent of high-tech and finance businesses use AI for complex tasks, compared to only 3 percent in manufacturing.
Among companies that reported using AI, 42 percent use it to perform technical and routine tasks previously handled by employees, while 14 percent use it for complex tasks that require higher-level thinking.
The survey also found that in most businesses, the use of AI has not affected the overall level of workers' employment. ■
