JAKARTA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Seven people have died after a pickup truck carrying 20 people plunged into a ravine in a hilly area in the Indonesian province of South Sulawesi last Saturday, local media reported on Tuesday.
The truck was carrying people who had attended a nearby funeral ceremony. The vehicle reportedly overturned on a sharp bend in the Lembang Sereale area, Tikala District, North Toraja Regency.
Local traffic police were still investigating the case, suspecting that the driver's fatigue was likely a cause of the accident.
Fatal road accidents are common in the Southeast Asian country, often attributed to overloading, poor road conditions, and reckless driving. ■
