VIENTIANE, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Laos and South Korea have agreed to dispatch Lao workers to Incheon city under a seasonal worker program, providing Lao workers with modern skills and experience while supporting South Korea's agricultural labor needs.
Representatives from Laos and South Korea met on Thursday to discuss expanding cooperation, particularly in the dispatch of Lao workers to South Korea for seasonal employment, according to a report from the Lao Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare on Friday.
The meeting highlighted the South Korean government's continued support in creating job opportunities for Lao workers, especially in the agricultural sector. These opportunities help Lao workers gain modern skills, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to national development.
The Lao government also reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity through the use of technology and skills development, with a focus on supporting rural communities. ■
