VIENTIANE, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Unexploded ordnance (UXO) accidents claimed four lives and injured 12 others in the first half of 2025, while 35,466 UXO devices have been cleared across Laos.
From January to June, UXO teams surveyed 9,413 hectares of land across 14 provinces, confirming 6,984 hectares as hazardous and clearing 2,717 hectares.
The efforts provided safe access to land, enabling farming, infrastructure development, and livelihood opportunities, the Vientiane Mai newspaper reported on Thursday. ■
