KABUL, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Police in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province gunned down an armed thief and rescued a businessman on Thursday, provincial police spokesman Assadullah Jamshid said.
An armed thief who attempted to rob a local businessman transferring cash from a money exchanger shop in the provincial capital Kandahar city on Thursday morning was identified and shot dead by police, Jamshid said.
Police also recovered two pistols and a motorbike from the killed robber, the official added.
In similar operations, police shot dead two armed robbers and arrested another in the neighboring Zabul province a day earlier on Wednesday. ■
