SINGAPORE, July 10 (Xinhua) -- A total of 4,018 anti-doping tests have been administered to athletes participating in the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore since Jan. 1, 2025, averaging two tests per athlete, according to statistics released by the Aquatics Integrity Unit of World Aquatics on Wednesday.
The anti-doping program, implemented by the International Testing Agency, includes a comprehensive range of in-competition and out-of-competition testing.
Team China topped the list among the 10 largest swimming teams in Singapore, with an average of 8.80 tests per athlete, followed by neutral athletes (of Russian nationality) at 8.20. The United States and Australia ranked third and fourth, with averages of 4.13 and 4.00 tests, respectively. France, Italy, Hungary, Japan, Canada and Britain rounded out the top 10.
All newly approved neutral athletes have undergone at least four tests in the past 12 months, including at least one conducted by World Aquatics.
The 2025 World Aquatics Championships will take place from July 11 to Aug. 3. World Aquatics plans to collect 830 samples during the 24-day event. ■
