NEW YORK, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.04 percent to 97.556 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1714 dollars from 1.1727 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.3588 dollars from 1.3595 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 146.33 Japanese yen, lower than 146.66 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.7949 Swiss francs from 0.7958 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3694 Canadian dollars from 1.3677 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.5152 Swedish kronor from 9.5279 Swedish kronor. ■
