NEW YORK, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.03 percent to 97.514 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.1727 dollars from 1.1719 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.3595 dollars from 1.3612 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 146.66 Japanese yen, higher than 146.18 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.7958 Swiss francs from 0.7983 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3677 Canadian dollars from 1.3662 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 9.5279 Swedish kronor from 9.5113 Swedish kronor. ■
