ISLAMABAD, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's trade deficit narrowed 9.47 percent in June compared to the previous month, as imports declined at a faster pace than exports, official data showed on Wednesday.
According to figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), trade deficit stood at 2.32 billion U.S. dollars in June 2025, down from 2.57 billion dollars recorded in May.
Exports fell 4.79 percent month-on-month to 2.54 billion dollars in June, while imports dropped more sharply by 7.08 percent to 4.87 billion dollars, the data showed.
On a year-on-year basis, exports in June declined 0.59 percent. Imports also fell 1.97 percent year-on-year.
As a result, trade deficit in June 2025 narrowed 3.45 percent year-on-year, the PBS said.
For the full fiscal year from July 2024 to June 2025, exports reached 32.11 billion dollars, marking a 4.67 percent increase.
However, the rise in exports was outpaced by a 6.57 percent increase in imports, which totaled 58.38 billion dollars for the year. Consequently, annual trade deficit widened to 26.3 billion dollars, compared to 24.1 billion dollars in fiscal 2023-24. ■
