ISLAMABAD, July 1 (Xinhua) -- At least one civilian was killed and seven others injured in a militant attack in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Tuesday, while two terrorists were killed in a retaliatory action by security forces, an official said.
The incident occurred in Mastung district where armed miscreants opened fire, killing a 16-year-old boy and wounding seven people, Shahid Rind, spokesperson for the Balochistan government told Xinhua.
He said security forces including Frontier Corps, Counter-Terrorism Department, and Levies personnel swiftly responded to the attack, cordoning off the area and forcing the assailants to retreat.
"An intense gun battle ensued as security forces encircled the militants, in which two terrorists were killed and three others sustained injuries," Rind said. ■
