NEW YORK, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Monday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.54 percent to 96.875 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.1776 dollars from 1.1700 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.3718 dollars from 1.3697 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 144.20 Japanese yen, lower than 144.70 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.7934 Swiss francs from 0.7998 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3625 Canadian dollars from 1.3715 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 9.4665 Swedish Kronor from 9.4973 Swedish Kronor. ■
