KABUL, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Police have discovered arms and ammunition during a series of operations in northern Afghanistan's Sari Pul province, said a news release of the provincial police office on Monday.
The weaponry, which included six pieces of AK-47 assault rifles, a machinegun and two pistols, were confiscated in the Sangcharak district over the past three months, the news release added.
It warned that police would not allow anyone to keep or carry arms illegally and would take legal action against people who violates the law.
In similar operations, police discovered a dozen of arms and a huge quantity of ammunition from the neighboring Samangan province recently. ■
