KINSHASA/WASHINGTON -- The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda signed a historic peace agreement in Washington on Friday, marking a turning point in efforts to end years of armed conflict and humanitarian crisis in Africa's Great Lakes region.

GAZA -- At least 45 Palestinians were killed on Saturday in Israeli shelling and gunfire across the Gaza Strip, according to the civil defense.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil's unemployment rate fell to 6.2 percent in the March-May period, the lowest level for the same period in the past decade, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported Friday.
