NEW YORK, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.26 percent to 97.402 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1700 U.S. dollars from 1.1721 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3697 dollars from 1.3749 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 144.70 Japanese yen, higher than 144.20 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.7998 Swiss francs from 0.7991 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3715 Canadian dollars from 1.3627 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 9.4973 Swedish Kronor from 9.4849 Swedish Kronor. ■
