KABUL, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 200 Afghan youths joined the National Army of the war-ravaged country after receiving three months' military training here, the local Bakhtar news agency said on Saturday.
According to the report, 199 individuals received military training in different fields, including topography and artillery. After obtaining certificates, they were commissioned into the National Army on Saturday.
After taking power in August 2021, the Afghan interim government announced plans to build a national army of 150,000 troops, later revising the target to 170,000 and eventually aiming for a 200,000-strong force depending on circumstances. ■
