HANOI, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Traffic accidents claimed 5,203 lives and injured 6,256 others in Vietnam from Dec. 15, 2024, to June 14, 2025, the National Traffic Safety Committee reported on Thursday.
A total of 9,340 traffic accidents were recorded nationwide during the period.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of accidents dropped by 24.69 percent, while injuries decreased by 33.86 percent, indicating significant improvements in traffic safety, said the committee.
Road traffic accounted for the vast majority of incidents, with 9,255 accidents reported on roadways, resulting in 5,140 deaths and 6,239 injuries. ■
