BELGRADE, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday that the recent United States strike on Iran constituted a breach of international law, warning of rising global instability and calling for peace in the Middle East.

There is no doubt that the United States violated international public law, Vucic told a press conference after an expanded meeting of the General Staff. "We spoke about this openly in other situations as well, because what else can a small country do but talk about respect for international public law and the UN Charter?"

Vucic criticized the strike as a violation of Iran's territorial integrity, drawing a parallel with the 1999 NATO bombing of the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

He also expressed regret that tensions between Iran and Israel had not been addressed through diplomatic means. The U.S. action, he said, had further underscored the need for internal reform and greater self-reliance in Serbia.
