JAKARTA, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said on Tuesday that the government has explored the possibility of importing crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Russia, as well as cooperating in reactivating idle wells.
The minister said that the initiatives were discussed during a recent visit by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to Russia.
He added that a business delegation from Russia will come to Indonesia to hold talks with the ministry.
"We have carried out the exploration (to import crude oil and LPG). This week, I will have a meeting with a team from Russia. The team is from Russian state-owned enterprises that will visit Indonesia," said Bahlil.
He noted that Indonesia imports 7 million tons of LPG annually, and that Russia could become one of suppliers, provided its LPG prices are competitive.
Regarding the reactivation of idle wells, the minister said that the government needs to learn the technology and collaborate with Russia.
"We have idle wells, but for the technology, we have to learn and collaborate," he said. ■
