DAMASCUS, June 22 (Xinhua) -- A suicide bomber blew himself up inside a church during Sunday mass east of the Syrian capital, Damascus, local media reported.
The blast occurred at the Mar Elias Church in the Dweilaa neighborhood of Damascus, said the report.
The Syrian Civil Defense Forces revealed that the explosion left unidentified casualties among civilians.
Authorities urged residents to avoid gathering near the site to allow emergency teams and ambulances to operate freely.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. ■
