JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government has intensified the restoration of 40,000 hectares of land, which is part of a national park in Riau Province, following degradation caused by illegal human activities, a senior official said.
Efforts to restore the condition of Tesso Nilo National Park, which covers 81,739 hectares, were being made by the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry and the Garuda Task Force for forest recovery, which was set up by the government, according to a statement by the ministry on Friday. PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia attracted a total of 2.95 million international tourists in the first five months of 2025, up 11.7 percent from 2.64 million in the same period last year, Prime Minister Hun Manet said here on Friday.

KATHMANDU -- Nepal imported a record-high number of four-wheel electric vehicles (EVs) during the first 11 months of the current 2024-25 fiscal year, the Department of Customs said on Friday.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan on Friday confirmed its 12th case of wild poliovirus this year, after the virus was detected in a child from the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Ministry of National Health Services said.
The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad confirmed the virus in stool samples collected from a 33-month-old boy residing in Union Council Shamsikhel of Bannu district, the ministry said in a statement. (Pakistan-Polio-Virus) ■
