KABUL, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan interim government's Ministry of Education has constructed over 1,100 school buildings across the country in the past four years, according to the ministry's spokesman.
The construction projects were funded by the ministry's budget, as well as aid organizations and wealthy individuals, local media Tolonews quoted Mansoor Ahmad Hamza as saying.
Hamza said that the ministry has been rebuilding approximately 3,000 schools that were damaged by natural disasters and conflicts.
Numerous schools in Afghanistan lack proper buildings, and students are forced to learn in the open air. The Afghan interim government has announced plans to build schools across the country. ■
