ASEAN strengthens regional trade in services

VIENTIANE, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) gathered to advance negotiations on trade in services, alongside discussions on trade in goods and other sectors.

Representatives gathered in Lao capital Vientiane for the 110th meeting of the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Services (CCS) and related meetings, held from Monday to Friday, according to a report from the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Thursday.

The meeting discusses the outcomes of the ASEAN Senior Leaders' Meeting on Trade in Services, the ratification of various CCS-related agreements and protocols, the CCS work plans for 2024-2025 and 2026-2030, and the proposal for Timor-Leste's membership in the ratified ASEAN Trade in Services Agreement (ATISA).

In addition, the meeting highlights Laos' growing role on the international stage and demonstrates its commitment to supporting the implementation of the ATISA, which aims to foster a favorable business environment, attract investment, promote labor integration, and bring the benefits of international economic integration to the country.
