JAKARTA, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia said on Wednesday that it has plans to evacuate its 386 citizens from Iran amid escalating military tensions following Israel's strikes on the country.

Judha Nugraha, director of citizen protection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told reporters at a press conference that the ministry has urged all Indonesian citizens to stay alert and closely monitor the conflict in Iran.

The ministry will promptly organize evacuations if the conflict situation in the West Asian country reaches its highest level.

"For us, the status is currently at Alert Level II, but we always urge Indonesian citizens to remain vigilant and monitor the situation. At any time, if there is an escalation, we can raise it to Alert Level I and carry out the evacuation process," he said.

He also advised citizens to avoid leaving their homes for non-essential reasons and to stay in contact with the Indonesian embassy in Tehran.

"For Indonesian citizens who have travel plans to Iran, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, or Yemen, we advise them to postpone their trips, as the Indonesian representative offices in these countries have declared a state of alert," he added.
