BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.04 percent to 3,387.4 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.12 percent lower at 10,151.43 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.21 trillion yuan (about 168.65 billion U.S. dollars), slightly down from 1.215 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares of oil and gas producers as well as battery manufacturers led the gains, while those in gaming and innovative drug sectors were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.36 percent to close at 2,049.94 points Tuesday. ■
