KABUL, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Around 200,000 tourists visited the picturesque and popular tourist destination of Bamiyan province in central Afghanistan during the Eid al-Adha holidays, provincial government spokesman Saboor Farzan Saighani said.
"A total of 197,352 domestic and foreign tourists visited Bamiyan during the Eid holidays," the local media outlet Tolonews quoted Saighani on Sunday as saying.
Popular for housing giant Buddhas, historical castles and natural lakes of Band-e-Amir, the picturesque Bamiyan attracts thousands of tourists annually.
During the Eid al-Adha holidays, tourists visited Band-e-Amir National Park, Gholghola City, Zuhak City, Qazan Amusement Park, and other recreational sites in Bamiyan.
Saighani stated that provincial authorities are committed to making every effort to build facilities that will attract more tourists. ■
