JAKARTA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government will deliver 10,000 tons of rice to Palestine, a senior minister said here on Thursday.
Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said that the aid will be delivered by Indonesian soldiers.
"Hopefully in this month we can depart. Later, our military men will sail there, to Jordan or Palestine," said Hasan after a limited coordination meeting at his office.
Meanwhile, head of the National Food Agency, Arief Prasetyo, said that it will take about three weeks to prepare the aid.
The rice will be taken from the government rice reserve, according to him.
Indonesia has abundant rice reserves. Currently, the country has its largest-ever rice reserve of 4 million tons, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. ■
