JAKARTA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia is considered capable of reaching its target of 8 percent economic growth by 2029 by optimizing key priority programs, said Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, chair of the National Economic Council, on Thursday.
"This is achievable, but only through collective effort and detailed strategic planning," Luhut told reporters during the International Conference on Infrastructure in Jakarta.
To pursue that goal, he added, Indonesia's economic growth must be maintained at over 5 percent annually.
A budget of 171 trillion rupiah (around 10.53 billion U.S. dollars) has been allocated for the free nutritious meal program in 2025, with plans to increase to 300 trillion rupiah (18.47 billion dollars) next year, aiming to stimulate equitable economic circulation across the country.
The downstream program is also being expanded beyond the mining sector to include agricultural commodities, allowing Indonesian exports to generate greater added value for the national economy.
Infrastructure development remains a crucial pillar for boosting growth, as it not only supports industry and investment but also drives large-scale job creation across various sectors. ■
