ISLAMABAD, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed sorrow over the crash of an Air India flight near Ahmedabad.

"Saddened by the tragic crash of Air India flight near Ahmedabad today," Sharif said in a post on the social media platform X.

"We extend our condolences to the families of the victims grieving this immense loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy," he added.

India's foreign ministry said a lot of people have lost their lives in the plane crash with 242 people on board the flight to London in the western state of Gujarat.
