NEW YORK, June 11 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 1.10 points, or 0.00 percent, to 42,865.77. The S&P 500 sank 16.57 points, or 0.27 percent, to 6,022.24. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 99.11 points, or 0.50 percent, to 19,615.88.
Seven of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in red, with consumer discretionary and materials leading the laggards by losing 1.02 percent and 0.98 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, energy and utilities led the gainers by adding 1.49 percent and 0.05 percent, respectively. ■
