BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.01 percent to 3,402.66 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.11 percent lower at 10,234.33 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.27 trillion yuan (about 176.9 billion U.S. dollars), slightly up from 1.26 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to media and entertainment as well as biopharmaceuticals led the gains, while those in the liquor-making and ceramics sectors were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.26 percent to close at 2,067.15 points Thursday. ■
