JAKARTA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government has invited investors to participate in the country's giant sea wall project along the northern coast of Java Island, a minister said on Wednesday.

The wall will stretch from Banten Province in western Java to East Java Province in the eastern part of the island, according to Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo.

The minister emphasized that the project presents an opportunity to attract long-term investment aimed at enhancing climate change resilience.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the project is part of the government's efforts to protect coastal areas in northern Java from the risks of climate change and tidal flooding.

He added that President Prabowo Subianto held a cabinet meeting on Tuesday to discuss preparations for the giant sea wall project.

"The construction of this wall is expected to prevent tidal flooding, reduce land subsidence in coastal areas, and serve as a clean water reservoir," Wijaya said in a statement issued by the Cabinet Secretariat Office on Wednesday.
