NEW DELHI, June 10 (Xinhua) -- A 35-year-old man and his two children died after a fire broke out inside their flat located on the seventh floor in a multi-storey residential building in southwest Delhi on Tuesday.
The massive fire incident was reported from Dwarka Sector-13 residential area, situated near the international airport in the national capital.
"Dark smoke billowed out of the flat, even as the fire spread quickly, thus giving the victims no time to run for safety," said a senior official of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).
He added that the victims jumped from the seventh floor of the residential building in a bid to escape the fire. Unfortunately, they died of injuries suffered from the fall.
The man's wife and one other person managed to escape the fire. They were admitted to a local hospital, where their condition was said to be stable.
Later, the whole building was evacuated as a precautionary measure, said the DFS official.
The cause of the deadly fire couldn't be ascertained yet, he added. ■
