AMMAN, June 10 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan met with visiting Lebanese President Joseph Aoun here on Tuesday to explore ways to deepen bilateral relations and address pressing regional developments, according to a statement released by the Royal Hashemite Court.

The talks focused on expanding trade and boosting joint investments, particularly in the energy, electricity, and infrastructure sectors. Both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation to serve their common interests, support Arab causes, and promote stability across the region.

On the regional situation, both leaders underlined the need to stop the war on Gaza and ensure the flow of adequate humanitarian aid to the enclave.

They condemned any plans for the forced displacement of Palestinians, and urged intensified Arab and international efforts toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

King Abdullah II, for his part, reaffirmed Jordan's support for Lebanon's efforts to maintain security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

He also warned against the escalating violence targeting Palestinians in the West Bank and the sanctity of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The discussion further highlighted the importance of maintaining security and stability in Syria to enable the safe and voluntary return of refugees.
