SYDNEY, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A man has died following a shooting southwest of Sydney in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police in the state of New South Wales (NSW) said that emergency services were called to reports of a shooting at a property in the city of Wagga Wagga, 380 km southwest of Sydney, shortly before 3 a.m. on Monday.
Officers arrived and located an injured man who was treated by ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.
Detectives have launched an investigation into the incident with assistance from the NSW Police homicide squad.
A crime scene has been established at the property and specialist forensic officers have been deployed to examine the site.
Anyone with information about the shooting or with dashcam or CCTV footage from the local area has been urged to contact police. ■
